SOmetimes it will turn on than instantly turn off. i tried takeing out the battery and draining the static energy ( hold down power button while its off w/o battery ) its a gateway nv 52 laptop, how much would geek squad cost to fix it i live in MA

Answer:

You messed up by turning it on after you spilled the milk into it. When electronics get wet, all the circuit pathways that are wet make contact with each other, and when that happens, the electronics on the board can burn out. Chances are, since you did not take the laptop apart and properly dry it, it is still wet inside. Plus, dried milk leaves a sheen that may conduct electricity. I would remove all the doors on the bottom of the laptop, and place it in front of a fan for an entire week, to make sure there is ZERO wetness inside it, then test it. If it’s still not working, then the board is fried. In the future, if you ever spill anything on something electronic, IMMEDIATELY remove power to the device and do your best to insure that the components inside are dried before you turn it back on.

As for taking it to Geek Squad, Geek Squad sucks…not only in pricing, but in quality of service. You’d be better off calling around and finding a better price. Either that, or it’s time to buy a new laptop.

  1. MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD!
    FAIL

  2. It best to buy a new one because a geek squad will cost you a arm and a leg!

  3. You’re better off buying a new laptop, the repairs will cost you almost the same price as the laptop

  4. Land of the Greedy

  5. You’ll fix this by yourself ( with my help… :-) ). First, unscrew the screws arround the keyboard. Second, clean ALL the milk from there. Third, try to turn it on now. If it doesn’t work your motherboard or CPU is ”screwed”.
